Sunday set list #8...

(sorry blogspot giving me problems today)

I'm pretty excited!

We had two of the young people from the youth team working with the "grown-ups". One was playing with the worship team, the other was working on the light board.I strongly believe in incorporating the youthlings into the full body. Utilizing their gifts during weekend experience, along with what they do for the youth worship.

We also intro'd a new song from Chris Tomlin's newest album. Exalted (Yahweh). A flat out anointed song! People were belting it out by the second verse. And by the end chorus
"Yahweh, Holy is Your Name", praise was resounding all around us...
Awesome!

Great set! I love Marvelous Light.

Will have to check out the new song (and album) from Chris Tomlin. I've heard one of the songs and look forward to hearing the others.

I think it's cool to incorporate some of the younger ones into the "main" band as they're ready. Sojourn is a very young church (our biggest demographic by far is 21-30) but we just started up high school and college ministries last year, so hopefully we'll be able to have a youth band at those ministry events soon and then start incorporating some of them into our main Sunday gatherings.

@bethou: Yes, check it out. it is an unbelievable song.

@bobby: We actually started out as a college age ministry several years ago. We are very much a creative arts centered environment. Drama, dance, video, stage design.
I feel it is so important, that's one of the ways to keep things fresh and on the edge.

Our high school ministry is so amazing. They run circles around what the grown-ups are doing. Especially when it comes to reaching out to their unchurched friends.
They have neighborhood groups weekly. (I think they have five)
Have their own worship service monthly, complete with their own band (with almost two full bands now) Though the worship leader is still an adult, she is trying to train worship leaders right now.
The biggest things is, they have had more people commit their lives to Christ, than over in 'big" church.
They are on fire!

thats awesome that your church is incorporating your youth in your service. over the last 3 years we have turned our 5 member rhythm section into about 15 just by incorporating our youth.
